1616/Arita

Aritayaki, a type of Japanese pottery, originates from Arita on Kyushu Island, where the art was introduced by Koreans in 1616. Arita continues to produce ceramics using unique crushed stone clay. Designer Teruhiro Yanagihara created the brand 1616 / arita japan for Momota–Touen Corporation, offering contemporary ceramics made in traditional factories, emphasizing thinness and strength for everyday use. The Standard series by Yanagihara and the Colour Porcelain line by Dutch designers Scholten & Baijings blend Japanese craftsmanship with European influence, focusing on practicality and design.
